COORDINATOR: Center for Renewable Sources and Energy Saving (CRES)
The Center for Renewable Sources and Energy Saving (CRES) is the national body for Renewable Energy Sources, Rational Energy Use and Energy Saving. With Law 2244/94 ("Regulation of electricity generation issues from Renewable Energy Sources") and Law 2702/99 CRES was defined as the National Coordination Center in its areas of activity. It was founded in September 1987 by Presidential Decree 375/87, is a Legal Entity under Private Law and has financial and administrative autonomy. According to Presidential Decree 189/09 it is supervised by the Ministry of Environment and Energy. CRES has a scientific staff of more than 120 scientists, experienced and specialized in the fields in which it operates. |
Independent Institute for Environmental Issues (UfU) - Berlin
The Independent Institute for Environmental Issues (UfU) is both - a scientific institution and a citizen-based organisation. It actively supports and implements social innovations in order to achieve its vision of a sustainable society over the long term by actively working together with political parties, the economy and civil society. In addition to its scientific activities, the institute initiates and participates in local and international projects and networks. UfU regularly publishes the results of its work as studies, proceedings, training materials and manuals as well as in documents and journals. |

Architect specialized in energy efficiency in the built environment with many years of experience at CRES, mainly in supporting municipalities and local community stakeholders in energy and bioclimatic design, energy saving actions and implementation of renewable energy sources at city level. |
Maria Dimopoulou,
Environmental Education Coordinator at the Primary Education Directorate of Athens.. As part of her work she supports teachers in their environmental programs with visits to schools, provision of educational material, training and networking.She participated in the steering group of the international eco-schools network and his greek department. Through a 7-step methodology the school to reduce its ecological footprint. She participated in the design and implementation team of the European project "Open Schools in climate protection and energy saving Athens-Berlin 2017-19 with EUKI funding and participation of 70 schools in it from the Municipality of Athens. |
Eleni Niarchou,
Coordinator of Environmental Education for the 3rd Primary Directorate of Athens. As part of her responsibilities, she supports programs of environmental education in nursery schools and elementary schools, has organized seminars, workshops, events for Environmental Awareness and educational meetings for educational, awareness events for students with experiential activities and has conducted training and networking on Environmental education.She has introduced many important initiatives such as: raising students’ awareness events and happenings for climate education, schools’ collaboration, student-pupil art competitions, guided climate paths etc. |
Alexandra Tsigkou , Environmental Education Coordinator for the West Attica Directorate of Primary Education.
As part of her responsibilities she supports teachers in their environmental programs visiting schools, providing educational material, training and networking, while in parallel organizes educational field activities for pupils in nearby forests, wetlands, coasts or city parks. |
Antonia Dardioti , Environmental Education Coordinator for the Secondary Education Directorate of East Thessaloniki.
She is a PhD Biologist and Secondary School Science teacher. As a Coordinator she provides support for secondary education teachers on the implementation of sustainability education projects. She organizes training seminars and experiential workshops for teachers in collaboration with several Municipalities, NGOs and Environmental/Sustainability Education Centers, as well as student meetings and outdoor team events, competitions and photography exhibitions involving a large number of students and teachers. |
Kiki Papadopoulou,
Energy engineer, works at CRES as head of the RES & EU Applications Dissemination Department. In her nearly 30 years of work, she has coordinated and worked on various national, European and international projects for the promotion and dissemination of energy technologies and policies (design and implementation of dissemination campaigns, organization of conferences, business missions, publications, market studies, etc.) in the field of RES and energy saving. |
Muriel Neugebauer is research associate at UfU. She accompanies numerous educational projects on climate issues and energy transition. Her background is on biology with a Master's degree that focuses on biodiversity, ecology and evolution. She previously worked as a freelance experiential educator.

Cindy Prager is research associate at UfU. She holds an interdisciplinary Master's degree in "Sustainability Science and Policy" at Maastricht University in the Netherlands with focus on sustainability research, participation as well as policy making. She was previously involved in sustainability consulting projects.

Florian Kliche is managing director at UfU since 2020 after becoming head of the field "Energy Efficiency & Energy Transition" in 2016. He already started working as a project manager in the field of "Climate Protection & Environmental Education" at UfU in 2008. Previously he worked as an engineer in quality management at Siemens Power Generation and ENSOLUT GmbH.
